From the first moment I opened the front door of the school, I was overcome with a unique feeling of belonging. I sensed at that moment that I had entered a very special place. A short, stalky, and friendly man greeted me warmly as I entered. I was immediately struck by the grace with which he walked as he approached me – his hand was outstretched. He invited me to watch a class, but what struck me was his openness when he asked me to ask if I had any questions about the school. I said to myself, “There is something about this man. He has a gift. This man is a teacher. And this school is his home and his students are his family.”
